Susan Luery was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her gift for sculpting was refined in Carrara, Italy, where she worked with Alberto Sparapani, maestro sculptor renown for Italy's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Marian feels real children provide the personality that each fountain figure requires and the addition of water adds even more interest. Her art has been exhibited in many national shows, as well as in several juried national art groups.

Marian Flahvin has designed a figure and plate series for Goebel, prints and cards for Ronald McDonald House, St. Anne's Children's Home and Valley General Hospital, and a sculpture for the benefit of Morning Star Boys Ranch. Her garden figures remain her favorite for the pure joy they provide.
