John is a wonderfully creative and spirited sculptor living in Chester County, PA. His course of study included traditional figurative sculpture with Holley Silverthorne at the Chester County Art Association. From there, John’s forward momentum as a talented sculptor has been self directed and taught.
He answered his calling to work in the arts by working now for several years at Laran Bronze Foundry casting bronze pieces; his skills have been applied in nearly every department there including sand molding. His working history has included building wooden boats, crewing a Chinese junk plying the Southern US Intercoastal Waterway, commercial printing, a legal career and selling cars!! “When I create a piece, my fingerprints are left in almost every step – creating the wax mold used for the “lost wax” casting process or the sand mold when necessary, the adrenaline rush of helping pour of the molten metal and then personally completing all metal finishing (welding, grinding, polishing….) for all of my pieces.” His life’s passions include his family – his wife Kathy, lovely daughter, two sons and their families – one a welder in Oklahoma and one a rescue swimmer with the Coast Guard. John is also delighted being “PopPop” to his grandson and granddaughter. John’s other great joy is riding ocean waves – now in a kayak but in the days of his youth on a surf board!
