The firm of J. W. Fiske and Company, opening in 1864, was one of the preeminent makers and retailers or ornamental iron and zinc objects in New York City in the second half of the nineteenth century, producing a wide range of garden fountains, statues, urns and furniture.  The resourceful business practices of Joseph Winn Fiske elevated him above other manufacturers, and as a result his products were admired as some of the finest of the period.
