"To view garden ornaments as
baubles, to add them as afterthoughts, is to miss the chance to
elevate
an outdoor space
from merely pleasant to
truly artful."

Majolica with a Mexican Flavor--Talavera Planters and Pots:
If you're looking for a planter or pot that can stand on its own with or without colorful plantings, Talavera pottery may be just what you've been waiting for. This vibrant, durable earthenware pottery was first introduced to Mexico in the 15th century by Spanish settlers and the craft was mastered in the village of Talavera de la Reina. Today, Talavera pottery is produced in many regions of Mexico utilizing the techniques, skills and cultural influences attained over the centuries and is made with special clay with properties which allow it to be fired at extremely high temperatures (2315 to 2380F-degrees) making it extremely sturdy and frost-resistant. Indoors or outdoors, these pots add an invigorating splash of color to any setting. We fell in love with the classic shapes and great finishes of this Talavera pottery and had a difficult time not ordering them all! One of the styles and finishes we've ordered is this Copa Francesa style planter with an unexpected Fish Pacific finish--this would be perfect to add color to a beach house deck or patio! These are expected to arrive before summer's end to add a jolt of color just when your summer plantings are starting to look time-worn and weary. Please give us a call if you'd like to reserve any pieces before their arrival!

Before Your Visit:
To make the most of your trip to Garden Accents, don't forget to bring along any pictures, diagrams and/or dimensions of the space you're working to beautify so we can help you find the perfect size and shape ornament to suit your needs. If you're unsure of the size and scale of what will look best in your setting, try stacking boxes vertically and horizontally until you find a pleasing proportion that complements your space. Sometimes an area needs a much bigger (or smaller) accent piece than you might originally think in order to make an impact. Narrowing down the dimensions will really help narrow down your choices. Working in 3-dimensions is always much easier than trying to visualize the proper dimensions.
