Antique Water Jar - Ching Dynasty
Antique vessel used for storage of water, tea, wine or other liquids. Storage jars of this type were also used to transport these staples whether by sea or land. This pot possesses lugs or protuberances which would sometimes serve as an aid in hanging or moving these pieces. When the lugs contained holes they would allow the pots to be suspended easily. Lugs also existed so that an animal skin top could be tied down as a cover. Ching Dynasty (1644-1912). Imported from China.
