Old Man Of The Mountain by Robert Keegan
A sculptural ornament that graced the Schumacher garden which is registered with the Smithsonian. Mystical faces like Robert Keegan’s sculptures can be found high in the European Alps, etched into the craggy cliffs by the forces of nature. As an art form, shepherds have traditionally carved these faces in avalanche wood. Keegan, who studied under master carvers in Austria and is the author of well over 10,000 such faces carved this piece. Lava sculpture is appropriate for outdoor placement and is light in weight, easily moved about, and porous so water will not freeze in it causing it to crack. Several of these garden sculptures have been placed in Alaska. Material is Lava Stone.
