The armillary sphere was an early astronomical tool that represented the great circles of the heavens, including in the most elaborate pieces - the horizon, meridian, equator, tropics, polar circles, and an ecliptic hoop.

This artist armillary with pedestal was crafted from steel, professionally painted black and then powder coated to retard rusting.
