Antique Two-Color Clay Chinese Storage Jar

Handpicked in Taiwan by The Schumachers. A storage jar was used to transport and store wine, water, tea or other liquids. The narrow opening at the top of this jar would have made it easy to tie an animal skin around the top to cover it. During the firing process, “colors” were created mainly from ash or wood falling into the kiln and on to the piece being fired. Ching Dynasty (1644-1912).
